What we do
In 2008,National Foundation for Democracy and Human Rights in Uganda (NAFODU) was successefully able to train over one thousand(1000) volunteers in corruption prevention,Civil conflict revolution and Human Rights monitoring.They are to monitor and report such cases to NAFODU for action.In addition to this they are to monitor government programs and make sure their achievements are met especially the tendering boards, service commissions beginning ffrom where they are by taking a step to go their subcounties and question the relevant people in authority, read public noticeboards at their district headqaurters, and report any injustices that they may face to NAFODU and other NGO's and CSO's involved in fight against corruption and such malpractices in the distribution government funds and resources bearing in mind that democracy is the government of the people, for the people and by the people. In otherwords its up the masses to choose a method of administration and how they want to be ruled. Its against this background that NAFODU has embarked on sensitisation of the masses on their rights to make them aware of their responsibiliy to monitor and ensure they get appropriate services. NAFODU has embarked on encouraging the masses to take part or get involved in reading the budget at their subcounties, it is after this that they can make a follow up of the government programs and activities towards its people.As per now the 30th sept.2009, NAFODU is planning to open new offices in other districts of Kigezi Region southwestern Uganda Rukungiri, Kanungu, Kisoro, and Ntungamo starting from the village level upwards until the desired goal is achieved.
