CIVIL CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND CREATION OF A NETWORK OF NAFODU VOLUNTEERS.

In 2008, 163, 0ne hundred sixty threevolunteers were trained in civil conflict resolution in the districts of Kisoro, Kabale, Ntungamo and Rukungiri.In addition 66, sixty six community volunteers in Kanungu district were registered and trained  in civil conflict resolution.The objectives of the training were;

1.To improve the ability of volunteers to resolve civil conflicts at the community level.

2.Provide volunteers with neccesary knowledge and skills needed to effectively involve themselves in civil conflict resolution efforts.

3.To establish a network of NAFODU volunteers who are willing to work for peaceful resolution of disputes.

As regards to the establishment of the Local Conflict Monitoring system for Early Warning as well as for the documentation of Human Rights abuses, NAFODU has volunteers who work for the advancement of human rights and resolution of civil conflict in their communities in Southwestern Uganda. Its the volunteers who network and in the process conflicts get ressolved peacefully and justly since NAFODU has embarked on teaching and sensitising these masses on their rights basing on the fact that rights are Natural or God given. There nobody should be deprived of his/her right regardless of sex, social and economic status.

In 2008 NAFODU started to create a network of partriotic NAFODU volunteers with relevant knowledge and skills in conflict ressolution. Relying on technical assistance from NAFODU the volunteers monitored, documented and wrote reports on civil conflicts and human rights violations that occurred in their communities. NAFODU compiled this information  into its annual human rights report that includes selected  interviews with victims and an analysis of the patterns of conflicts and human rights violations in Southwestern Uganda.Part of network of NAFODU volunteers

NAFODU is led by the Board of directors who elect the Executive every after five years.NAFODU has elected Human rights and Democracy support commitees at the Regional, District, Constituency, Subcounty and Parish levels  which spearhead the organisation programs in league with their fellow members . The commitees are elected every five years by NAFODU community volunteers.
